They were really kicked off for yelling back and forth after being asked to be quiet, and not following directions, and then they started filming claiming they were victims.

They had done other hoaxes before, like one that they were being racially profiled -- so a cursory glance at claims against them would have debunked it before it went viral. Instead folks like Brian Stelter of CNN's ironically named Reliable Sources had retweeted it, and helped the story gain traction.
