2019.12.30 U.S. military bans TikTok

U.S. Army and Navy banned TikTok from all government-issued devices (and suggest the same for private devices).
U.S. Army and Navy banned Chinese App TikTok from all government-issued devices (and suggest the same for private devices). Australian military did same. A Chinese sponsored App must comply with Chinese regulatory rules, and can not refuse to share location, images and biometric data with the Chinese government.

This is a little greyer than it sounds. Theoretically, U.S. companies have to comply with U.S. law enforcement too. But U.S. law enforcement has many more theoretical constraints, and while they have some bad events, it's not like they're committing genocide on the Uyghurs, Freedom Fighters, have a Tienamen Square in our recent past, and so on.
