Coronavirus mitigation
Before I left San Jose for good... I went to the movies, and watched The Hunt. The mitigations were hilarious.

This prevented easy transmission. And they ran a promo at the beginning letting you know if anyone was coughing near you, ask and you could be re-seated. So they were really trying to be as accommodating as possible. But I couldn't help but wonder that theaters are not a high margin business -- and cutting the efficiency down this much, was not economically viable in the long term (or likely the short term).
The only reason they didn't go out of business? Because government paid their bills for them, and left you with the debt. Remember that.
I felt the transmission odds were low, and things were safe. But the far left, locked down harder (shut them down completely) for a year+. That meant the studios stopped releasing films. They ruined lives for a year, in something that was completely unncessary.
How do we know? As they came back online, and re-implemented these mitigations, there was virtually zero cases contact traced to movie theaters, whether they were mitigating this hard or not. We found out that transmission was mostly based on aeresols and ventillation. Most movie theaters had way over-ventilated to keep people cool if they were at capactity and deal with food smells or smoking (as they were originally designed).
