Dickinson

AppleTV+ show that stank. 19th century period piece teen dramedy (using modern vernacular), suitable for The CW.

I got Apple TV+ for free, so I tried the Dickinson show. This stunk on ice. 19th century period piece with modern vernacular, lesbian kissing scenes, progressive fiancé/BF that totally gets Emily's free-spirited 21-century feminist schtick. 90210 with more cheese and hitting every snowflake hot-button. I couldn't get past the first episode.

I couldn't give it much of a chance, because the first episode was so incredibly bad for me. But to each their own. I'm sure there are people that will like it. I'm just not one of them as I care about history, intelligent dialog, acting, drama, character development and so on... and this is from a guy who could put up with watching 90210, sparkling vampires (Twilight), and Hunger Games. But it got 71/91 on Rotten Tomatoes. Basically, it's was White Hamilton (the rap-Play), and I hated that historical revisionism bullshit: especially when uninteresting, woke, and obnoxious characters.

This show proved to me that I have limits. And that while Apple won't go snowflake on every series, they certainly will go full frontal lobotomy on some.
