This is what the Top Template does/contains. (These are prefixed with +, like +Item. There are many Templates, but let's cover the basic +Item one, that's the most commonly used for Articles (or Fragments).
ℹ️ Info
~ Aristotle Sabouni

Between the start of the template: {{+Item And the end of the template: }} there are a individual lines broken by a Pipe chacaceter: | and each line sets a value. These lines/values would look like the following.

{{+Item
|Type={if this is "Article" it means any changes will make this Artice visible on the Main Page}
|Image={Optional Image}
|1Liner={1 Line short description, used when other pages show a mini-summary or link to page}.
|Summary={Longer description, used when other pages show a longer summary or link to page}.
|By={Who wrote the article)
|Created={DATE formatted 12-21-1999 - when the article was written, or when the topic/event happened.}
...}}

Most of those should be pretty self explanatory. But you can dive into each template for more details.

But you can do things like Set:

  • |Type=Article (so the main page knows to show it), or Fragement if it's just going to be included in other articles, or is in progress, and you don't want changes to push it to the top of the home page
  • |Image=File:Image.jpeg <- this has the ability to display an image that's been uploaded to the site, or is available on Wikimedia Commons
  • 1Liner and Summary are used so that when you display the article in another place in the site, it can hint to the reader what the article is about.

And so on. These fields are Metadata -- meta means after/beyond or in this case "about", so metadata is data that provides information about other data (like the article), but is not the content of the data (it's not the article).
