While not a quote, "Forward" has long been a term used by unions, fascists and socialist/left leaning orgs, and now by President Obama as his campaign slogan. This is the opposite of conservatism, which they play as "Backward" (towards tradition individualism) -- whereas forward to them, is into collectivism and the wonders of an autocracy of experts and a brain trust to guide the little people around all the hazards in life (and taking away those pesky choices they shouldn't have to make).
Many people know this, and believed "Foreward" was a signal (Dog-Whistle) to the far left. I feel, "never attribute to malice that which can more easily be explained by incompetence". While Obama's background makes if far from the best choice, and he should have known better, maybe his staff really is that historically clueless. At least they didn't go with their other choices, "each according to his needs", "first brown, then red", or "power to the people"...
