Star Trek: Discovery
Half the crew is LGBT and the warp drive is powered by magic mushrooms.

The larger arc, is minorly interesting -- the little arcs are silly. The characters aren't horrible. But the wokeness interrupts and overpowers the story, constantly. If you describe this series to anyone they'd rightly look at you like you've been eating the magic mushrooms that they use to power the "spore drive".
Spoilers[edit | edit source]
I imagine the pitch went like this:
- Point: Let's have a lead character that's a Black Female Vulcan (like a Biden Supreme Court pick), with a boy's name (Michael Burnham), and she should be Spock's sister. Ultimate woke!
- Counter: But Spock isn't black, he never talked about a sister, and why with the name?
- Point: It's OK, they're estranged because she put feelings over Vulcanism, and tried to protect him... she can be adopted, and the name is to teach people that names are social constructs that are to oppose the heteronormative strictures on society, but we're breaking that. Plus, a lot of the rest of the crew can be gay or trans for no particular reason, because the 25th century is so advanced.
- Counter: But none of that fits with series canon. Why weren't the other crews this gender forward, or name backwards?
- Point: You're missing the big picture, and I have a solution for that. They're a super secret project (which is why you don't hear of them in normal canon). They'll travel through the galaxy instantaneously using a new Spore Drive (that's powered by magic mushrooms), that can only be powered by the love and acceptance of one gay man. They can pop anywhere, and even have an adventure in an alternate evil universe. And end the Klingon war singlehandedly. Fight an all knowing artificial intelligence, then pop to the 32nd century, more than 900 years into their future using her real Mom's Iron Man outfit.
- Counter: WTF are you talking about? That breaks with everything Star-Treky... if they can go anwhere in an instant, and this is a decade before the Original Series, why doesn't everyone have it?
- Point: Stop fighting. Feel the pride. The reason you can't use the drive on all the other ones is because it requires Tardigrade's (Space Bugs) to power it. But the federation learns that it hurts these wonderful creatures, but fortunately due to a DNA fusion, our Gay Engineer (Stamets) can take over. But he's the only one... until Season 3, and we'll never explain why he can use it, but focus. Michael would have gone to the VEG (Vulcan Expeditionary Group) like Spock, but their Dad (Sarek), could only have one, and he picked Spock. But we can have a lot of the stuff dependent on the Gay Engineer... and the Trans Wesley Crusher. Isn't that cool?
- Counter: I guess there's a market for that.
- Point: Then we deal with time travel, after interacting with Captain Pike before his big sacrifice. We can have young spock flashbacks, to deal with older Spocks pschiatric problems after murdering three doctors. Then they fight the all-knowing sphere of knowledge (sentient artificial intelligence called Control: named after Get Smarts spy agency), that will wipe out all life in the future if they don't stop it. So they will. Oh, and throw in that our Captain Saru (a tall cattle creature) can be culled by a stronger race, but we'll reveal that the weaklings are the good guys and really strong later on.
- Point: by Season 3 they have to solve the problem where all the dilithium in the galaxy blew up, and FTL had kinda collapsed (but not all was destroyed, it's just rare now), the technology is much more advanced (they went into the future), but the federation is gone so the Galaxy is a mean place, but they'll bring it back. Then Season 4 can be about an extra galactic gas species that's controling a movable black hole used for mining but destroys solar systems. And of course the battle between arrogant science, and feels -- with feels winning. They have to communicate with the aliens using Pheromones and feelings.
- Counter: whatever, give it a shot. If this generation can eat tide pods, and think chomosomes and genitalia have nothing to do with gender, then why not this.
- Point: if that isn't woke enough, we'll have President of Earth be an incompetent and corrupt, overweight, black, female politician as a guest spot. Stacey Abrams!
- Counter: fuck it. Whatever. Have it fire equality torpedoes, call turning on the shields, "providing a safe space". If we can get a few woke advertisers to sell to the defects that want to watch this thing? That's good enough for the studio. Move it to Parmount becuase the ratings aren't good enough to keep it on CBS.
It seems somehow appropriate that Star Trek Discovery has the initials STD.
Film Critics[edit source]
If you want to see leftist bias in media, you just have to look at all the examples of how far off from their reviewers are from their viewers. I use the spread as a predictor of whether I'll like a film. Big spread with audience over critics? I'm going to like it. But big spread with critics over audience? I'll usually side with audience.
Tatometer | Summary |
---|---|
Star Trek: Discovery - This gets a huge spread of 86% of Critics love the wokeness, while the audience score is 36% (50 point spread). (Season 4 was worse 92/20). Some of the episodes are OK. But mostly all ties to the Star Trek universe are names borrowed, with little relationship to the technology or canon. Thus it's won tons of awards for it's groundbreaking mushroom trip. Woke Warriors have to ruin everything, and they got their hooks into Star Trek, CBS and Paramount. |

Caustic Democrat from Georgia, erotic novelist, abbrasive racist/polemic, never conceded her election loss -- but she criticizes any conservative that doesn't accept their losses (under far more sketchy circumstances). She did an unintelligible State-of-Union retort for DNC. If Oprah ate AOC, and digested her politics, the results would be Stacey. |
