Facts[edit | edit source]
- The American Kristallnacht - one of the great shame's of American History is Executive Order 9066, issued by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt on February 19, 1942. It allowed the internment of 120,000 Japanese Americans -- basically because you just can't trust those slanty-eyed devils from the east! This was inexcusable.
- History forgets that it also allowed the internment of German and Italian immigrants as well, and they were incarcerated too, just not in as great of numbers.
- FDR's propaganda ministry (the OWI) was making and distributing racist films and stories about how the Japanese race could not be trusted -- and all the media jumped on board.
- All the rationalizations in the world can not forgive us (and our President) for ignoring the Constitution and the tenets of freedom, and rounding up people because of their heredity, taking their things, and imprisoning them. This shame belongs forever bound to the legacy of the President and Party that ordered it, and the Congress and Supreme Court that allowed it to happen.
- NOTE: This shame is not shared equally with all Americans, since it was Democrats that unilaterally did this. No legislative vote was taken, no support from the other party was asked for or recieved. It was another of FDR's unilateral and partisan decisions. With no authority, comes no responsibility for those who did not support FDR/Democrats.
NOTE[edit | edit source]
- It was slightly more than EO 9066 that causd this. FDR had used [Presidential Proclamation 2526], and [Presidential Proclamation 2527], as well as the Alien and Sedition act of 1798 (also a grotesque overreach passed by the first Democrat/Federalist John Adams).
- The basics are that EO 9066 was used mostly on the West Coast against Japanese Americans (and against a far larger number of people)... whereas the other proclomations were used against Italian, German and Japanese nationals, across the country.
- About 120,000 Japanese was detained under wartime restrictions on the West Coast. Plus an additiona 1,200-1,800 living in Hawaii. [1]. Basically, anyone with more than 1⁄16th Japanese blood, or a single Great Grandparent (and 3rd generation) was enough to qualify.
- About 11,507 German Nationals were detained under wartime restrictions [2]
- About 1,881 Italians were taken into custody and detained under wartime restrictions [3]
