🇫🇷 Paris, France: During protests against France's Algerian War, the cops were let loose on the 30-40,000 demonstrators, beating them and throwing them in the Seine river, arresting 11,000. France acknowledges 40 deaths. Estimates are at least 200 bodies were found immediately after, and 325 over that autumn. Not to mention inumerable injuries. There was also a follow-on Charonne massacre in 1962-02-08 that killed 9 more, when police flung manhole covers down a stairways to the Charonne metro station. | Cause: Govt/Police Motive: Authoritarianism 🚫 Strict Gun Control |
